After more than 30 years in the telecom world, my main goal is to get cloud and telecom networks up and running faster, better, and cheaper. It’s all about bringing real value to the folks using them and making sure our customers and our company stay profitable. But honestly, I truly believe that at its core, every business is about people. Whether we’re talking about big changes or small improvements, there’s always a human element involved. That’s why I think strong leadership and good soft skills aren’t just nice-to-haves; they’re absolutely essential. Remember, there is no leadership without relationships.
Career
My journey in telecom actually kicked off in Nepal, where I started out as a fixed digital switching engineer. From there, I really got to ride the wave of wireless communication advancements, especially with Nokia. It’s been quite a ride – I even helped build India’s very first commercial mobile network, then supported the massive growth of 2G networks over in China. I was also part of the team that made the first-ever end-to-end 3G call happen in Finland, which was pretty cool! And more recently, I’ve been right there for the whole wireless evolution in the United States, making it go from 2G all the way through 2.5G, 3G, LTE, and now into the 5G era and from bare-metal to virtual to cloud and soon to AI environments.
Leadership & Soft-Skills
Are the leaders born or can they be developed?
Honestly, when it comes to being a good leader, I’ve found that most of it isn’t something you’re just born with – most of it can be learned!
Think about it: things like getting up and speaking in front of people, understanding emotions, navigating big changes, keeping your schedule straight, or just talking clearly… these are all skills you can totally work on and get better at.
And that’s actually a huge passion of mine.
I’m always keen to sharpen my own skills, but I get an even bigger kick out of helping others do the same. I discovered that the best way to learn is teach and share. That’s exactly why I ended up creating programs like LEAP, HELP, and BEST, all designed to boost those crucial leadership and soft skills.
Change Management
There is only one certainty in our professional and personal lives, there will always be changes. How do we manage the constant changes? How to bring positive changes?
Continuous Improvement
Continuous Improvement is another passion of mine.
How can we continuously improve ourselves and as well as people around us to bring more value, satisfaction, happiness, profitability and growth?
